Education
I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato (Roll Mavs!) in the Spring of 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management with a minor in Sports Medicine. Now I am currently working towards a Master's in Business Administration.
What I Like About Being an SSC
As someone who thrives with organization, I love the ability to create and implement organizational systems whether it be something more administrative like room keys and room condition reports or something for the front desk like all the check-out items for residents or for mail. I always am looking for a new way to improve the function or system of the way we do things.
Favorite SSC Memory/Experience
I really enjoy the friendships and relationships that I have made within the Res Life community, particularly the other SSC's. What I really appreciate about my position is that there are 3 other people who can relate to what I am doing and share in the ups and downs of the job. They are great people to share ideas with, laugh about some of our experiences, and ask for advice. Often times, my highlight of the week is the weekly SSC meeting that we have with our supervisor Emily. Not only do we learn important information but it's a great time to see each other and catch up about what's happening in our community and we spend most of our time laughing, so it's always a good time that I look forward to!
Professional Development
I have learned a lot during my time as an SSC. There are a lot of situations that I have dealt with that I believe will prepare me for any job that I have in the future. Not only have I had the opportunity to supervise others but also with other administrative tasks that come with many perspective future positions.
Position Balance and Academics
Balancing between academics and work is very important, and luckily, I haven't had any issues doing both. With my program entirely online, it gives me the opportunity to be very flexible with my work schedule since I don't have to be in a physical class at any particular time. At times this also means it's easy for me to lose track of how much time I've spent at work but thankfully this position has a 20 hour a week commitment that helps keep me accountable in assuring I have dedicated time for school work.
My Professional Dream
My professional dream changes fairly frequently. With my background in sports, I would love to work in the sports industry but I also love to travel and being in difference places around the world so I am open to any possibilities the world presents!
