Early Arrival

Residence Communities open on Friday, January 10.

Under approved circumstances, students may move in early. Select the category below that applies to you.

Groups

  • If you are a student affiliated with a group, do not submit an individual early arrival request. Your coach/instructor/director will provide information to us.

Arrive January 2-9, 2025

Students will move directly into their spring room assignment.
  • Limited Residential Life services available during this time.
You will be billed $27 per day/per student for arrival prior to January 10, 2025.
  • Residence Communities open on January 10, 2025.

Send roster to nicole.faust@mnsu.edu at least one week prior to arrival date.
Include: names, techIDs, date/time of preferred check-in, and indicate if the student or department is responsible for early arrival fees.

If you require food service for students, contact University Dining Services.
  • Meal plans begin at 11 a.m. on January 10, 2025.

International Students

Arrive January 2-9, 2025

Move directly into your spring room assignment.

  • Limited Residential Life services available during this time.
You will be billed $27 per day for arrival prior to January 10, 2025.
  • Residence Communities open on January 10, 2025.
Submit an Early Arrival Request in the Housing & Dining Portal after you have been assigned to a spring room (beginning December 18).
  • Only approved students will be allowed to move in early.

Check-in at the Residential Life Office, 111 Carkoski Commons, January 2-9.

  • Weekday arrivals can check in between 8 a.m. and midnight.
  • Weekend arrivals can check in between 9 a.m. and midnight.
  • Students arriving after midnight will need to make hotel arrangements until the next day.

After you submit a request, you can expect to receive an email response within three business days.

  • If you cancel your housing, your early arrival request will also be cancelled.

We will begin accepting packages for spring residents on Monday, December 16. If you are having items shipped to you, make sure they arrive December 16 or later.

Meals will be provided to early arriving international students by the Kearney International Center. A schedule will be provided to you when you check-in.


Students

We recognize that some students may have circumstances that require them to arrive on campus sooner than Move-In (such as on-campus employment or family reasons).

Process

  • Students should submit an Early Arrival Request in the Housing & Dining Portal after they have a spring room assignment (incoming students will begin receiving room assignments on December 18).
  • Students should expect an email response within three business days. If approved, check-in instructions will be provided. 

Dates

Students will specify the date they would like to move-in on their Early Arrival Request. The first day we will allow early arrivals to move-in is Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Cost

Students who arrive prior to January 10 are billed $27 per night to their University E-services account (meals are not included). The first meal offered by the student's meal plan is lunch on Friday, January 10.
